{"id":871,"date":"2006-04-27T21:03:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-27T11:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tammytingles.com\/wordpress\/?p=871"},"modified":"2012-12-19T20:35:51","modified_gmt":"2012-12-19T09:35:51","slug":"871","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tammytingles.com\/?p=871","title":{"rendered":"BETTER GET A LAWYER:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5433\/55\/1600\/Trial.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5433\/55\/320\/Trial.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Perth socialite Rose Porteous will be well enough to face trial later this year on charges of altering a prescription, a court has been told.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Porteous has previously pleaded not guilty to fraudulently altering a prescription for the drug Hypnovel last June.<\/p>\n<p>She was also unable to attend court in March, when her lawyer Shane Brennan presented the court with a letter from his client&#8217;s psychiatrist saying Ms Porteous was suffering from a suspected &#8220;brain stroke&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Is there any other kind?<\/p>\n<p>Magistrate Paul Heaney then rescheduled the case until today to set a new trial date, saying that if Ms Porteous was not able to set a new trial date, she would need more than the psychiatrist&#8217;s letter to show she was too sick.<\/p>\n<p>Today Mr Brennan told Registrar Warren Southwell his client would be well enough to face trial.<\/p>\n<p>He also said she needed more than one day to defend the charges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It depends on how things transpire,&#8221; Mr Brennan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s convoluted medical evidence for a start.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> How true.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Southwell set the trial down for October 16 and 17.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> I&#8217;m booking my flight and accomodation for this.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Brennan said he had been unable to give warning before the January trial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately the state of my client&#8217;s illness was not apparent until close to the trial date,&#8221; Mr Brennan said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perth socialite Rose Porteous will be well enough to face trial later this year on charges of altering a prescription, a court has been told.
